Business insurance to one side now, the two finalists for this year’s BBC’s The Apprentice are Stella (not a surprise) and Chris (perhaps a surprise).
Business insurance will loom large again once more as one of them becomes the chosen Sugar disciple, but for now, it’s all about who wins the final. And that will come down to who can invent the best drink and then show it off to Sugar’s aides and mates.
The interview stage lived up to billing and the candidates were mauled by a pack of Rottweilers. Sugar’s hit men, and woman, gave the candidates a good kicking (including Margaret, who although polite, used the raised eyebrow to great effect) and whilst Joanna (bless her), Jamie (who looked lost) and Stuart (you’re no fish my boy) wilted under the barrage, ice-cool Stella and stoic Chris stole the show.
Perhaps the best bit of the show (although it did look slightly stage-managed), was the come-uppance of wonder boy Stuart ‘The Brand’ Baggs. Eventually Sugar twigged onto the fact that Stuart was more hot air than substance. Claiming to have a major telecoms licence on the Isle of Man was proved to be ever so slightly a little fib and from there, Stuart fell to earth like a shot-down fighter plane.
So when the dust settles and the new Apprentice is enthroned at Sugar’s headquarters, it will be back to thinking about the business insurance again and how it might prove useful should the chosen one slip up!
