If the Wareham Wind Turbine plan goes ahead, then the chosen construction company will have to get the best builder contract insurance available.
Construction companies need to show their clients that they are fully protected with building contractor insurance before they can even tender for a job, and it’ll be no different when it comes this latest eco project in Dorset.
Despite local opposition, councillors have approved the application which basically involves the construction of four wind turbines in land near East Stoke, Wareham, Dorset. Each turbine is 125 metres high and councillors sitting at Purbeck District Council gave the okay even though their own planning officials recommended rejection after environmental worries. Wind farms split opinion wherever they are constructed. Some see them as a green dream, others as noisy eye-sores which are not that efficient.
Councillors sought promises over the noise levels and environmental impact, and there were several conditions attached to the granting of approval.
Nearby residents had mixed feelings about the project. About half said that such projects were necessary to help the UK become a greener country, making use of renewable energies, whilst the other half bemoaned their unfortunate effect on the environment.
The council revealed during the planning hearing that they had greater than 700 replies to their request for opinions on the wind farm, with nearly 550 in favour, whereas only just over 175 were against.
Whichever construction firm wins the tender to ready the site for the wind turbines, they will have to have good building contractor insurance.
