When it comes to insurance quotes, and you have a few minutes to spare, then go onto the comparison sites and have a little fun.
Most comparison sites are built using similar computer engines which are in reality complicated databases that store stacks of information about particular insurance companies and their various offers, and packages. In effect, they are completely automated and create insurance quotes when people answer questions and match the various parameters set within the database.
The upside is rapid retrieval of information when hunting out an insurance quote. In reality, they operate on a Mr and Mrs Average basis, and can therefore cope with the majority of the British population who ask for a particular kind of cover. You get the idea: Mr and Mrs Smith who live in 10 Acacia Avenue, have two children and drive a small hatchback which does the average 12,000 miles a year. But here’s the fun; spend a little time making up people who are not Mr and Mrs Average and have peculiar needs (say someone drives 200,000 miles a year for example). And see the sometimes amazing quotes you can get.
Great stuff, but there is a serious point here. Okay, Britain is made up of mostly Mr and Mrs Average, but even people within this category, and the millions outside of it, often have particular needs, or requirements for their insurance policy, that just cannot be garnered from a comparison site database. So, very useful, but often only as a starting point. Getting insurance quotes to precisely match your needs is a tough business, so don’t just rely on the outwardly convenient and clever comparison sites.
